PLAN 1.jpg

Guidance: Sara Ganzel arch. and Omer Frank arch.

Urban-Housing studio, Project site was located in Makur Baruch Neighborhood between Bar Giyora st and HaZayit st.

Makur Baruch is an Orthodox neighborhood and the project tried to answer the needs of that community while rethinking to common housing schemes.

The Project didn't try to assume the community which would grow in it, but to answer the needs of both Orthodox and none Orthodox alike.

The main idea of the project was to create a mix-use-housing complex that has it's housing typology upside down; having the more lavish-and spaced apartments in the lower floors, the middle sized apartments (which are also very big) on the middle floors, and the smaller apartments on the upper floors.

Taking into account the complexity of the Orthodox community, it's need to be able to not use the elevators on Shabbat day and holidays, while the small apartments are meant for university students and Yeshiva students that are either don't have a problem using the elevators or are going back to their families on said days.
